The first concept, Heat in Motion captures the waves of fire more literally, but also figuratively with the help of the bright colors from the brand assets. The second concept, Inside the Music took a more technical approach, drawing inspiration from the modular forms of techno music. The main focus was bitmapping textures while still giving way to expressive motion that mirrors dancing to music.
These concepts were narrowed down to one through three phases of presentations to the sponsor, the first being quick motion sprints along side the initial concept statements and moodboards. The second phase took critiques from the previous phase to build the visuals of the concepts more true to size. The final phase iterated on the selected visual direction, focusing on arrangement of information that can be gathered in a quick glimpse.
The organic energy of heat contained in the visual sketches of the first concept pushes the Movement festival at the center of the city’s energy, depicting it as an eruption of eager hearts who enjoy music and community.
